Amway India's Covid-19 Relief Program

Amway’s CSR initiatives are based on the belief that social responsibility is much more than the incurrence of a cost or a resource on a charitable / philanthropic act for social benefit. We see it as an opportunity to bring in social innovation and change. In line with our commitment to helping people live better, healthier lives, we have been constantly exploring ways to support the community.

COVID-19 has adversely affected individuals and businesses around the world. As India grapples with the second wave of the pandemic, Amway India pledges to donate US $1 Million (approx. INR 7.50 crores) to support India in its fight against the COVID-19.

With the support of founding families, as well as Executive Leadership, Amway Corporation contributed US $750k (INR 5.50 crores) to the US Chamber's foundation to provide aid to India. Amway India pledged an additional contribution on US $250K (INR 1.83 crores).

So far, Amway has made a total contribution of close to US $1.35 million (approx. INR 10 crores) towards COVID-19 relief work in India.

Previously, with the help of Amway direct sellers and Amway employees, Amway managed to raise US $338k (INR 2.5 crores) which was judiciously used to support the front-line workers and communities at large. Some of initiatives undertaken as a part of COVID -19 relief program in 2020 includes:

To address the soaring demand of quality sanitizers, especially across hospitals and frontline workers who are relentlessly serving COVID-19 patients, Amway India for the first time developed/manufactured and donated Persona Hand Sanitizer Gel.  In partnership with Association of Surgeons of India, we donated 12,000 units of Amway Persona Hand Sanitizer Gel for frontline workers in 47 COVID designated hospitals across 16 cities.

People living in rural communities are equally anxious during these unprecedented times for their daily health issues. In order to support these communities Amway India partnered with Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, and opened their 3rd ‘Rural Telemedicine Centre’ in Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu. The centers are a part of our Village Health Program. The program ensures consistent healthcare support through telecommunication and technology. This facility is for residents of the villages in Mettupatti, Ethilodu and Sadampatti, around our manufacturing unit in Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu.

True to the core values of Amway, which are built in our culture, we are proud to share that Amway India’s employees have also come forward and voluntarily donated a day’s salary to support the cause. With this encouraging response, Amway India has donated five times the amount received from its employees towards this cause.

We are equally proud of more than 5,50,000 active Amway direct sellers, which include 60% women across the country, as many of them have stepped forward to give back to the communities by spreading awareness around the importance of preventive healthcare and immunity building, using digital platforms. While few of our direct sellers have contributed to the PM CARES fund, there are many who came forward to voluntarily distribute food items among street dwellers and daily wage earners. They also provided safety kits to frontline workers and cleaners. Many of them also opted to voluntarily add INR. 10/- to the invoice generated on their name for donation towards the PM CARES fund.

To support rehabilitation efforts in West Bengal as it battles with the effects of the horrific storm along with COVID-19 pandemic, Amway India has pledged to donate INR 25 lakhs to the West Bengal Disaster Management Authority.

We have been working with more than 35 social service organizations to improve the Environment and Health, Education and Livelihood of people with special focus on children.  We are proud to share that during this difficult time, Amway has not only continued to support its partners financially, but also encouraged its employees and direct sellers to come forward and help communities recover.

Amway’s COVID-19 relief program has reached out to more than 2 lakhs beneficiaries.  We continue to be inspired by the humanity and strength of our communities, especially frontline workers, entire medical fraternity and essential service providers, who have dedicated their lives to the cause.
